In 1988, a young Japanese child drowned in an accident on a pier. The child's elementary school happened to be located a few short blocks away from the scene of the accident.
One evening the spirit of this restles but curious child found it's way into a pelican that happened to be resting for the evening on that same pier.
Having joined with the pelican, the spirit of the young boy taught the pelican a great many things about the world of a young Japanese child.
The two of them visited the child's home, but the parents were confused by the appearance of the pelican, and it's odd behavior. They eventually managed to shoo away the pair; to the dismay of the pair.
One afternoon while soaring the skies, it occurred to the child that school had recently resumed. The pelicam began regularly bringing the spirit child to visit his friends at school.
The following year, the child's friends began attending middle school at a location unknown to the child.
But the pairs friendship continued for a number of decades after.
The pelican greatly appreciated the human insights which were passed along to it by the spirit child.
Particularly his talent of astral projecting beneath the surface of the waves to identify schools of fish near the surface.
A talent like that is like winning the pelican spirit-possession lottery.
