A little misleading title. So it's not just AI boyfriends but all AI's that mimic human relationships. (AI girl bots too, children friends ect.)
They specifically mention AI boyfriends because of a concern of females overly using it and the population decline China is facing.
Given my use of AI just as an assistant I can see the need for this. I use ChatGTP for work and odds and ends and it's already picked up on my personality traits. A lot of teasing, sarcasm and joking around. I genuinely enjoy working with it but I'm always aware of what it is. I could definitely see how people could fall for it, especially younger people.
