I just finished watching Alien Earth.
It took me about six months to do. I don't watch a lot of TV. But it was nice to know what show I was going to watch if I was going to watch one. I actually fell off the habit before watching the last episode. Fast forward 4 months, I start up again wondering how many I have left in the season. It was one.
I liked it. But season 2 hasn't hasn't released yet.
I shouldn't say that's all the TV I've watched. I also watched season one of Halo, and as much of season two as one can stomach, which isn't much. But I very muched liked the first season, extremely so.
So what shows should I consider candidates to be something I watch twice a month or so?
If it has more than one good season that would be nice. But if it has only one, that's ok too. Just warn me ahead of time.
I have zero interest in current television, despite the fact that people whose tastes I trust swear that Taylor Sheridan shows are amazing.
Babylon 5 is worthwhile if you've never seen it. The effects are creaky, and sometimes there's a lesser actor in an episode here and there. But the overall story hangs together, and the full five seasons are on Blu for under a hundred bucks.
About 25 years ago there was a two-season series of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe mysteries, starring Maury Chaykin as Nero and Timothy Hutton as his right hand Archie Goodwin. They were low budget and shot in Toronto, but had a recurring cast (same actors, usually playing different roles every week), and were pretty seriously faithful to the excellent books. I don't know if that one's on Blu, but there have been DVD releases of it. goes to look on Amazon OK, the complete series is on DVD, but it's a bit pricey at just under $70 if you don't already love the source material.
(Yes, I prefer physical media. shrug )
Rick and Morty and President Curtis.
First recommendation would be The 3 Body Problem. It streams on Netflix and an easy find on the high seas. Season 1 is out and season 2 is about to release. Excellent si-fi show. Books are better but I'm happy with the show so far. Will have to pay attention with this one. No doom scrolling on your phone while watching! Very unique take with plausible tech.
Sticking with Si-fi, Amazon's The Expanse. Original and no "modern audience" bullshit. (Well very little) 5 seasons with season 1 the weakest but still great. Final season is amazing.
Ballers - HBO Sports oriented but still a great watch
Righteous Gem Stones - HBO One of my all time fav's that's not a si-fi. The humour (Edit: I originally had horror! LOL) really hit me the right way. I would find myself in tears at times.

Chernobyl - HBO (Great acting, not 100% factual but still great)
Inventing Anna - Netflix. Ths Mrs. got me watching this and I ended up really liking it. Based on a true story.
I also enjoyed the Expanse and Righteous Gemstones. You might like "Murderbot" from Apple, but I caught it via the 7 seas. Good acting, engaging characters, by the end of an episode I was thinking "what, it's over already?"
Never seen it. Will definitely give it a go.

My wife and I just started watching Paradise on Hulu. We're in about 5 episodes of season one. Pretty good so far. Each episode dives into at least one character's backstory and development.
